Dear Renshi Pepels
Would you be so kind as to convey my humble and most sincere thanks for the very kind words of the PKKS International Board Members. I was moved by their kind words. It is at times lite this when great martial artists reach out to a fellow martial artist like myself who is only at the beginning of his path, that the true spirit of what the PKKS stand for is staring me in the face. Different martial artists with different backgrounds, respecting eachother and comming together in an organisation that puts the martial arts and the artists first, instead of financial gain.
As I see it, the martial arts are all about personal development not just in the martial arts techniques but in all other aspects of life. This is something that is becoming clearer to me every day.
The style which I practise is not just a set of rules or a book filled with techniques, to be performed in a set way,
but it is the way that I am able to adapt the style/ techniques to my person, to strongpoints and weaknesses and in doing so trying to overcome those weaknesses. And in walking this path in life apreciating the journey which is so much more rewarding than just focussing on the place that the journey is headed to. For me personally the journey as a martial artist started 20 years ago and since that time i have trained with various teachers in both the netherlands and england. One thing i have however learned to apreciate is the way in which Renshi Pepels unrelentingly keeps developing his style, never failing to look around for improvement. I feel that in the years I have trained with him I have seen him develop personal style further and further. It is great to see other appreciating his honest no nonsense approach to the martial arts. It is my hope that i can live up to the trust he and you put in me by awarding me the 1st Dan Kenpokai Karate. For me it is clear beyond shadow of a doubt that i would not be at this point in my development as amartial artist if it was not for the support and teaching of Renshi Pepels. So thank you Renshi for being my mentor and teacher.
Once again thank you, International Board Members for your kind words. I am honoured to be a member or this great organisation which is the PKKS.
